My Cyclical Art Explorations and Is Blogging Still Viable?

Every once and awhile I wander over here to Blogger to look for an old photo or two. I did that today and wondered if I should add to my blog again. Sometimes it seems like no one reads blogs anymore and yet I have a friend who is a huge fan of blogs …and I still read some myself.

Recently, I have become very drawn to watercolors and mixed media again. It’s been awhile according to my old posts here. My artistic wanderings seem to be somewhat cyclical, although as I look around my cluttered table I see that I currently have a knitting project under the needles, a bag under the sewing machine’s needles and watercolors and papers are joyfully spread around my small painting area. I like the same things but my most acute focus shifts a bit. I’ll always be a beginner!

An artist I follow, Karen Elaine, does a cool thing that I decided to try. She fills an old Rolodex flat style with card sized little art. It seemed like a very approachable, do-able, method to me. I keep even the bad ones because it can serve as a record of any improvement over time. I am making this a no-stress little project…trying

Back to the burning question though…do you still read blogs? for daily, but no worries if I miss a day or two. Karen has new book out and it’s a fun one!

  1. Hi! Good to see you are still arting! i too love watercoloring, collage and some quilting. I still paint my own fabrics, to cut up and piece back together and see what i was thinking. Usually it morphs into the next stage of "What if".
Yes i still have a handful of bloggers i follow. i have not posted in a year as i get slower and with age. Sonja
